Ingredients
- Fresh strawberries – 450 grams
- Sugar – 150 grams
- Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
Method
- Firstly take 450 grams of fresh strawberries. Wash them thoroughly 2–3 times to remove any dirt or residue. Let them air dry slightly.
- Now cut off the green leafy tops, then roughly chop the strawberries. Alternatively, you can lightly crush them in a blender (just pulse—don’t puree).
- Then transfer the chopped or crushed strawberries into a thick-bottomed pan. Add 150 grams of sugar to it.
- Place the pan on medium heat and let the mixture cook. Keep stirring continuously using a spatula to prevent it from sticking.
- As the strawberries start breaking down and releasing juice, mash them gently while cooking. You can leave some small strawberry chunks if you like a textured jam. Cook until the mixture thickens and reaches a jam-like consistency.
- Once the jam begins to thicken, add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. This helps in preserving the jam and also balances the sweetness.
- Let the mixture cook for another 5–7 minutes after adding lemon juice. You’ll notice the jam becomes glossy and thick.
- Turn off the heat and let the jam cool down to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to a clean, airtight glass jar. Store in the refrigerator.
Enjoy this simple joy of homemade strawberry jam. When strawberries are in season, make a few jars to savor that summery flavor even during the off-season. See you again with another delightful recipe. Until then, eat homemade, stay healthy, and keep spreading sweetness!
