Jai Shri Radhe, Jai Shri Krishna!
Today we are preparing a dessert that beautifully blends ancient wisdom with modern wellness – A Sugar free Siaphal, Rajgira & Makhana Kheer.
This is not your usual kheer – this is something truly unique, crafted with ingredients that nourish your body, soothe your soul, and satisfy your sweet cravings without a single grain of refined sugar. Whether you’re observing a vrat (fast), managing your diet, pr simply in the mood for a wholesome sweet dish, this recipe is a perfect fit.
Let’s talk about the stars of this dish –
- Sitaphal (Custard Apple) – a naturally sweet and creamy fruit, rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber. It not only adds natural sweetness but also a luxurious texture to our kheer.
- Rajgira (Amaranth) – a powerhouse of nutrition and a vrat-friendly grain. It’s gluten-free, high in protein, and brings a lovely earthiness to the dish.
- Makhana (Fox Nuts) – light, crunchy, and full of calcium and good fats. They soak up the milk beautifully and add an interesting bite to every spoonful.
Together, these ingredients simmer in rich, full-cream milk, enhanced with a touch of cardamom and garnished with crunchy nuts, to create a dessert that is both festive and healthy.
What makes this kheer even more special is its no-sugar approach. We rely purely on the natural sweetness of ripe sitaphal to sweeten this dish — making it perfect for diabetics, health-conscious individuals, and those following sattvic or fasting diets.
So whether it’s a festive day, a fasting day, or just a day you want to treat yourself with something divine — this kheer is your answer.

Ingredients
- Milk – 500 ml
- Ripe Custard apple / sitaphal – 1
- Rajgira – ½ cup
- Makhana – ½ cup
- Chopped cashews & almonds – 1 tbsp
- Cardamom powder – 1/8 tsp

Method
- Firstly, take a heavy – bottomed pan and pour in 500 ml of full fat milk. Let it come to a nice boil on medium flame.
- Once it starts bubbling, turn the heat down to low.
- Now, add ½ cup of rajgira (amaranth) – this little supergrain is packed with nutrition and perfect for fasting or healthy diets.
- Next add 1/2 cup of makhana (fox nuts). Let it all cook together, slowly thickening into a rich, creamy delight.
- While that’s happening, take one fully ripe custard apple (sitaphal). Scoop out the flesh and carefully remove all the seeds. We’ll be using just the smooth pulp.
-
Now, once your kheer has thickened nicely, it’s time to add some royal touches: A tablespoon of chopped cashews and almonds, And a pinch of cardamom powder for that irresistible aroma.
-
now, the magic ingredient – our custard apple pulp. Add about ½ cup of it to the kheer and mix well.
-
No need for sugar – the natural sweetness of sitaphal is more than enough!
-
Turn off the heat, and there you have it – your super healthy, super tasty, sugar-free Sitaphal Kheer is ready to serve!
You can enjoy it warm or chilled, and it’s perfect for festivals, fasting days, or just a guilt-free dessert treat.
So what are you waiting for?
