Method
Step 1- Make the Custard Slurry
- Firstly take 2 tablespoons of vanilla custard powder in a small bowl.
- Then add some cold milk and whisk well until the custard powder is completely dissolved.
- Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture. This step is important because adding custard powder directly to hot milk can cause lumps.
Step 2 - Heat the Milk
- Now pour ½ liter (500 ml) of milk into a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan.
- Place it over medium heat and bring the milk to a boil, stirring occasionally so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
- Once the milk comes to a boil, add ¼ cup sugar.
- Stir well until the sugar completely dissolves into the hot milk.
- You can adjust the amount of sugar slightly according to your taste and the sweetness of the fruits you plan to use.

You can adjust the amount of sugar slightly according to your taste and the sweetness of the fruits you plan to use.
Step 3 - Add the Custard Mixture
- Now slowly pour the prepared custard slurry into the hot milk while continuously stirring with a whisk or spatula.
- Keep stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
Continue cooking the custard over low heat, stirring constantly.
As the mixture cooks, you will notice that the milk gradually becomes thicker and creamier.
Cook until the custard reaches a smooth, thick, pourable consistency.
Remember that the custard will become even thicker as it cools, so don’t make it excessively thick while cooking.
Step 4 - Cool the Custard
- Now turn off the heat and allow the custard to cool to room temperature.
- Once it has cooled, cover it and place it in the refrigerator to chill thoroughly.
- Chilling the custard gives it a lovely creamy texture and makes the final dessert wonderfully refreshing.
After refrigeration, the custard may become slightly thick or develop a few lumps.
Simply whisk it well until it becomes smooth and creamy again.
Step 5 - Prepare the Fruits
- While the custard is chilling, wash and prepare your fruits.
- Now chop the kiwi, grapes, mango, muskmelon, apple, strawberries, banana, and chikoo into bite-sized pieces.
- Then add pomegranate seeds along with your choice of chopped dry fruits such as cashews and dates.
- Using a variety of colorful fruits makes the dessert look especially beautiful.
Step 6 - Combine the Fruits and Custard
- Add the prepared fruits and dry fruits to the chilled custard.
- Gently fold everything together using a spatula or large spoon.
- Don’t overmix the fruits, especially bananas and soft fruits, as they can become mushy.
Once everything is combined, refrigerate the fruit custard for a little while before serving.
Serving it well chilled makes it much more refreshing and delicious.

Step 7 - Make Fruit Custard Cake Cups
- If you have some leftover cake at home, don’t throw it away! You can turn it into a delicious layered dessert.
- Cut the cake into small bite-sized pieces.
- Place a few pieces of cake at the bottom of a serving glass.
- Spoon the prepared fruit custard over the cake.
- Then add another layer of cake if desired, followed by more fruit custard.
- You can finish it with a few colorful fruit pieces, pomegranate seeds, chopped nuts, or strawberries.
- Serve chilled. These individual dessert cups are especially nice when you have guests because they look beautiful and require very little extra effort.

Serving Suggestions
Fruit Custard tastes best when served well chilled.
For an attractive presentation, serve it in:
- Individual dessert glasses
- Small bowls
- Glass jars
- Dessert cups
- A large glass serving bowl for family-style serving
For parties, you can prepare individual fruit custard cups in advance and keep them refrigerated until your guests arrive.
For an extra-special presentation, layer the custard with cake pieces and garnish with fresh strawberries, pomegranate seeds, chopped nuts, or a few pieces of mango and kiwi.

Tips
- Always dissolve custard powder in cold milk. This prevents lumps from forming.
- Stir continuously after adding the custard slurry. Custard thickens quickly and can stick to the bottom of the pan.
- Cook on low heat. High heat can make the custard stick or become unevenly thick.
- Don’t make the custard too thick. It will naturally thicken as it cools.
- Cool the custard before adding fruits. Adding fresh fruits to hot custard can affect their texture and freshness.
- Add fruits according to your preference. There is no need to use every fruit listed in the recipe.
- Add banana closer to serving time if you are preparing the dessert well in advance, as banana can soften and darken.
- Chill before serving. Cold fruit custard is much more refreshing than room-temperature custard.
