FAQs
Yes! That’s one of the best things about this recipe. You only need a blender, a mixing bowl if required, and a freezer-safe container.
Usually, no. Sweetened condensed milk provides sweetness as well as creaminess. However, the sweetness of fruit varies, so you can adjust the amount slightly according to your taste.
Yes. Frozen fruit can work well, especially when fresh fruit isn’t in season. Allow very hard frozen fruit to soften slightly before blending so your blender can process it smoothly.
Homemade ice cream can become firmer than commercial ice cream because it doesn’t contain the same commercial stabilizers and processing. Simply let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping.
Absolutely! Chopped almonds, pistachios, cashews, chocolate chips, coconut, or chocolate shavings can all make delicious additions.
Yes. You can reduce the condensed milk slightly, but keep in mind that condensed milk contributes to the texture as well as the sweetness. Reducing it too much may result in a harder, icier ice cream.
The recipes as written use fresh cream and condensed milk, so they are not dairy-free. You would need suitable plant-based alternatives designed for ice cream, and the texture may differ from the original recipe.
Mango and chikoo are especially good because they are naturally sweet and creamy. Guava, kiwi, tender coconut, and watermelon also create delicious flavors, although their textures can vary because of their different water content.
