It has the classic crunch of traditional peanut chikki—but with a delightful twist of cocoa, making it taste rich, chocolatey, and absolutely irresistible.

This is a great snack for kids, perfect for festive platters, and wonderful for mid-day energy cravings. With just a few pantry ingredients—peanuts, jaggery, sesame seeds, cocoa, and ghee—you can create a wholesome sweet snack that stays fresh for weeks.
Let’s get started!

Ingredients

  • Peanuts – 1 cup (roasted & peeled)
  • Jaggery – ½ cup
  • White sesame seeds – 2 tbsp
  • Cocoa powder – 1 tbsp
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Pinch of salt (optional but enhances flavor)
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish (optional)

Method

Step 1 –  Roast the Sesame Seeds

  • Heat a pan on low flame.
  • Add 2 tbsp sesame seeds and roast for 1 minute, until they lightly pop and release aroma.

Step 2 – Roast the Peanuts

  • Add 1 cup pre-roasted, peeled peanuts to the same pan.
  • Roast for another 1 minute to enhance their flavor.
  • Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool completely.

Step 3 – Grind into a Coarse Mixture

  • Transfer the cooled peanuts and sesame seeds to a mixer jar.
  • Pulse for a few seconds to form a coarse powder.
Do NOT grind too much—some chunks make the chikki crunchy.

Step 4 – Prepare the Jaggery Syrup

  • Heat the pan again on low flame and add 1 tbsp ghee.
  • Once melted, add ½ cup jaggery.
  • Stir continuously until the jaggery melts and becomes slightly darker in color.
This is the perfect stage for mixing.

Step 5 – Add Cocoa & Peanut Mixture

  • Add 1 tbsp cocoa powder to the melted jaggery and mix well.
  • Immediately add the coarse peanut-sesame mixture.
  • Add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
  • Mix quickly and thoroughly. Do not overheat at this stage or the chikki will harden in the pan.

Step 6 – Set the Chikki

  • Grease a plate or tray with a little ghee.
  • Pour the hot chikki mixture onto the tray.
  • Spread it evenly using a spatula or rolling pin while still warm.

Step 7 – Cut & Garnish

  • When the mixture is warm but set, cut into squares or diamond shapes.
  • Garnish with chopped pistachios or any nuts of your choice. Allow it to cool completely.Once cool, it turns perfectly crisp.

And there you have it—your delicious, crunchy, chocolatey Peanut Chocolate Chikki is ready! This sweet treat combines health and taste in the best way, making it perfect for both kids and adults. I hope you give this simple recipe a try and share your experience.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Always roast the peanuts and sesame seeds—this boosts flavor and ensures crunchiness.
  2. Keep the flame low while melting jaggery to avoid burning or over-hardening.
  3. Work quickly when spreading and cutting; jaggery-based sweets set very fast.
  4. Store in an airtight container; the chikki stays fresh for up to 2 weeks.
  5. For extra flavor, add ¼ tsp cardamom powder and  drizzle of honey (after cooling), a spoon of chopped nuts inside the chikki
